I love playing with colours, shapes, patterns, textures and images...

I love taking a cloud of ideas and distilling them down into a pixel perfect poster, or a carefully crafted web design, or a flurry of social media images.

The world of digital artistry, working with the many digital tools available today, is a thrilling adventure in creativity!

Work and Self-Employment History:

1980-1983 Operated my first business at age 22, General Store in small northern BC town. Going to Business School might have been a cheaper way to learn business fundamentals. :)

Worked as Legal Assistant - 1986 to 1994 - learned about using internet on the job. Was one of the first people in northern BC to use the online Corporate Registry services.

1995 - Started DHJ Design Studio as a Knitwear Designer - A physical studio/shop in Wells, BC as well as a website and blog.

After several years of being a knitwear designer, I found myself doing more and more as a website designer and enjoying it more than the knitting design. While I still design patterns and knit a few items each year, my design studio has morphed into website design, graphic design and photography.

In the last five years I have been working with several small businesses and small non-profits to increase their web presence, doing web design, graphic design for print and for web, and have been learning about marketing and social media for both myself and my clients.

I’ll sign off with my favourite quote:

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we’re here we might as well dance!
